Peptide-based strategy to target Huntingtin fibrils
Françoise A. Dekker, Guy Mayer, Júlia Aragonès Pedrola, Tommaso Garfagnini, Assaf Friedler, Stefan G. D. Rüdiger
This poster, from Utrecht University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, demonstrates how Flow Induced Dispersion Analysis (FIDA) was used to develop a peptide that blocks Huntingtin amyloid fibril formation. By tracking the hydrodynamic radius over time, FIDA followed aggregation from monomer (1.7 nm) to fibrils (233 nm) and showed that the designed peptide suppressed growth to ~27 nm. It is an example of using FIDA to monitor amyloid fibril formation and screen aggregation inhibitors in solution.
