The new Fida Instrument: Fida Evolve: how does it differ and what do the users think?

Jan Nowak, Ph.D.; Hasse Hedeby

What's new in the Fida Evolve, and how does it differ from earlier FIDA instruments? In this Fidabio launch webinar, co-founder Hasse Hedeby introduces the Fida Evolve and core-facility beta tester Jan Nowak (Aarhus University) gives his hands-on verdict. Built on Flow Induced Dispersion Analysis (FIDA), the Evolve keeps the multi-parameter, in-solution readouts — molecular size (hydrodynamic radius), aggregation, binding affinity and kinetics from nanolitre samples — while making the workflow more routine: click-in detectors (280, 480 and 640 nm), a click-in capillary cartridge with built-in waste and no alignment, a moving-gantry design that runs quieter, a compressor-fed pressure tank for tighter and more reproducible pressures, sampling from as little as 2 µL, real-time pause-and-play, and automation-ready SiLA/REST-API integration for AI-driven protein-design workflows. It is an example of using FIDA for label-free, in-solution protein characterisation on a more automation-friendly platform.
