This study shows that Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) remodels host paraspeckles into virus-modified paraspeckle-like condensates that act as hubs for viral RNA processing and drive host genomic instability, with the viral protein ORF11 identified as a scaffold that drives their assembly by liquid-liquid phase separation. Flow Induced Dispersion Analysis (FIDA) was used to confirm this phase-separation behavior: purified recombinant ORF11 flowed through a capillary produced characteristic fluorescent signal spikes as droplets formed, giving an orthogonal, in-solution confirmation alongside microscopy. It is an example of using FIDA to detect protein liquid-liquid phase separation in solution.
